Old-Fashioned Swedish Meatballs (Creamy Style)
Ingredients:
500 g ground beef (or beef + pork mix)
1 egg
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 small onion (grated or finely chopped)
1/3 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp nutmeg (important for classic taste)
2 tbsp butter (for frying)
Cream sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
2 cups milk
Salt & pepper to taste
How to make:
1. Mix meat, egg, breadcrumbs, onion, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
2. Shape into small meatballs.
3. Fry in butter until browned and cooked through.
4. In a pan, melt butter, add flour, cook 1 minute.
5. Slowly whisk in milk until thick and creamy. Season.
6. Add meatballs into the sauce and simmer 5–10 minutes.
Creamy, soft, and very classic served usually with mashed potatoes or pasta.
