Ingredients:
- 1 pound of your preferred cut of steak (e.g., ribeye, sirloin, filet mignon)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1-2 tablespoons of oil or butter
Instructions:
- Remove steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature (30 minutes to an hour).
- Season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper.
- Heat up a large, heavy-bottomed pan over high heat.
- Once the pan is hot, add oil or butter.
- Place the steak in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness (rare, medium rare, medium, well done).
- Once done, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes.
